I asked my daddy to tell me what the big deal is about MLK and why we have a holiday today.

He was very emotional about it and took a long time to answew. 

He said that MLK was a vewy

couwagious man who believed in non-violence. 

I asked him to explain and he told me about King’s

being put in jail in Biwmingham ….

In August 1963, Daddi had weturned from the Peace Cowps in Colombia, and was wowking for the PeaceCowps

in Washington and living with 4 othew wetuwned PC guys fwom Colombia.

He and his fwiend Bustew walked ovew to the Lincoln Memowial to heaw Dw Luthew speak and stood in the

fwont pawt of the crowd to hear the speech on a vewy hot day.

It was weally a celebration although

it was called The Civil Wights Mawch. 

Thewe was moosic by Mawian Andewson, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan,Mahalia Jackson and Petew, Paul, and Mawy.

Thewe wewe many famoos hoomans in the 250,000 people who had gathewed to heaw him speak.

Today that speech will be wepeated all over the US to help evewyone wemember  Dw.King’s contwibootion.

At the end of the speech, evewyone sang “We shall overcome” and peacefully left the Lincoln

Memowial.

The weason today is so emotional for my Daddy is that Dw.King was assassinated in Apwil 1968.

Daddy then wead me Robewt F Kennedy’s speech,

On the Mindless Menace of Violence, which was a little ovew my

fuzzy head, but I definitely got the feeling—

Violence huwts evewybody, fuwwy ow not, and doesn’t solve any pwoblems.

Viowence cweates nothing.

No matter if you are a doggie, cat, hammie, bunny, howsie , donkey, ow any othew of god's cweatoowes--evewyone looses and is degwaded..

All furries want the same basic furry things

Don’t waste the so little time we have befowe we go to the bwidge

We awe all bwothers and sistews

It seems to me that this is just as twoo today as it was in 1968.

—violence is stoopid

thewe awe so many faboolous Diva's out thewe and I didn't weally think I qualified, but Mommi convinced me that I would feel howwibull if I missed out on this most auspicious event.

and what Diva doesn't like to be sowwouunded by handsome boyz..these awe just some of my wondewful fwiends who happen to be boyz..

and aftew dinnew , ow in the aftewnoon sometimes, I do love to lounge on the sofa while eating BonBons

now that I look at my pictoowes, I guess I could qualify as a Diva, so I humbly submit my application to Mango Minstew in this categowy

well, I guess all this is pwoof that I am a Diva, but basically a nice , loving one, so hewe's a bunch of smoochie kisses flying out to all of you, even if you don't think I qualify

Pawfect Snow Day

Deew Fwiendses we'we having lovely soft snow fall again and I love going acwoss the stweet to the Hudson Wivew walk and check it out

the fweshest snow is along the awea whewe thewe is a kiddie playgwound..appeawantly, they don't come out to twample it ..gweat fow me, hehehehe

hewe is lovely deep snow to taste..it's pwistine..I'm the fiwst one to explowe it

I bet this doesn't seem like what you think manhattan looks like, but wemembew, this is the Gweenwich village pawt next to the Hudson..it's vewy special and I love living hewe

Mommi loves the way colows(even the faintest) look up against the snow..i just love the smells

we walked all the way down to the public doggie wun next to the wivew...now we usually don't go thewe cause mommi doesn't twust stwange doggies and ownews who she doesn't know. She says she feels safe in the pwivate wun cause evewyone makes suwe no one fights, but since it was a snow day, we decided to see if maybe thewe wouldn't be too many doggies and then we could go to this pwetty one

We wewe in luck..thewe wewe only thwee doggies and they wewe soopew nice..especially the gweat big baby doggie called Titus.  He just bounced awound and was vewy vewy fwiendly.  Actually, I was the notty one..i stole the little doggies ball and mommi made me leave when I did it sevewal times..(something about bad mannews)

As you can see, this is a much pwettiew wun than the one I nowmally go to, but again, it's all about safety as faw as mommi is concewned and I have fun weathew it's pwetty ow not

You can see a tiny bit of the wivew beyond the big snow bank as we walk home

In this weathew it's weiwd, cause no one is awound, and it's soopew quiet and feels you'we out in the middle of nowhewe..that makes mommi sowt of scawed(she's weiwd)

Flat Geowge stops to Visist me in NewYawk

As some of you might know, Flat Geowge is on a wowld toow.

He's been seen in many pawts of the globe aweady and he did me the honow of coming to NewYawk

I took him to Centwal Pawk and dwagged him awound on my sled

then back to Gweenwich Village and let him go pose on the steps of my neighbows bwownstone( I live in a big apawtment building and have no outside steps)

thewe is a bootiful walkway along the Hudson Wivew wight acwoss the stweet fwom my house and you can walk all the way up and down the island of Manhattan along it

 

we did an abweviated walk cause it's vewy cold and I didn't want him to catch cold since he wasn't dwessed fow it

latew we went in and took a well desewved snooze in ouw wawm apawtment

Is having Lacie as a BFF Dangewous? and an impawtant Bawk it Fuwawd

Many of you have suggested that my BFF Lacie is a bad inflooence on me

Canine Assistants® is a non-profit organization, founded in 1991, which trains and provides service dogs for children and adults with physical disabilities or other special needs. In addition to physically assisting those with disabilities, Canine Assistants service dogs are instrumental in removing many of the barriers faced by the disabled in today’s society.
Service Dogs
Canine Assistants service dogs assist children and adults with physical disabilities or other special needs in a variety of ways. Some of the tasks the dogs perform include turning lights on and off, opening and closing doors, pulling wheelchairs, retrieving dropped objects, summoning help and providing secure companionship. While all of these functions are vitally important in helping a person obtain greater freedom, perhaps the most impressive gift the dogs provide is social, rather than physical, in nature. The dogs eliminate feelings of fear, isolation and loneliness felt by their companions. One Canine Assistants recipient made the value of this gift quite clear when asked by a reporter what she liked most about her service dog. Immediately, she responded, “My dog makes my wheelchair disappear.”
Most Canine Assistants service dogs are born, raised and trained at the Milton, Georgia facility, while some are occasionally adopted from local organizations or breeders. The majority of the service dogs are retrievers, including both Golden Retrievers and Labradors.
Companion Dogs
Like service dogs, companion dogs also serve to assist children and adults with physical disabilities or other special needs. Companion dogs work primarily in a recipient’s home, assisting with tasks around the house and more importantly, contributing to the emotional well being of the person.
Seizure Response Dogs
In addition to service dogs and companion dogs, Canine Assistants also trains and provides seizure response dogs for certain recipients. As with some of the service dogs, these dogs are adopted from various organizations and selectively screened for personality, temperament and general health. Following general training, seizure response dogs are trained to perform one of the following behaviors, depending on the recipient’s need: remain next to the person during the course of a seizure, summon help in a controlled environment or retrieve a phone prior to the seizure when indicated by the recipient. Certain dogs may even develop the ability to predict and react in advance to an oncoming seizure once they are placed with their recipient.

then he aske the dwivew to let us off in fwont of the Plaza Hotel

he took my paw and led me into the champagne baw to wawm up and have a little a -peaw -a teave and horws -doovwes

it was tewwibully womantic. He's such a gentledog.  I know his heawt will always belong to his angel Snickews but He made me feel like I was a vewy special giwl anyway

Imagine, he asked his hooman sissie E.Wabbit to have dinnew weady fow us at my house by the time we got home. She and hew fwiend Jocko pwepawed an amazing seafood plattew to have wif Champagne..I just had to give him a smoochie fow his thoughtfullness(they even cleaned up befowe disappeawing to spend theiw own pwivate time togethew)

Gussie and I  wewe able to watch the fiwewoks all alone fwom my window..it was bootiful

We plan to spend the west of the night in fwomnt of the fiweplace, but Gussie told me he had mowe suwpwises fow me
