AN Invitation FOW A PAWTY and Gussie's pwesent

HI EVEWYDOGGIE , HAMMI, AND CATSES,
I have to tell you something....
In Hungawy, where my Mommi was bowned, and in many othew countwies too..they celebwate St.Nicholas Day on the 6th of Decembew.
In Hungawy, Santa, ow as they call him thewe, MIKULAS, comes on the sixth, not on the 24th...he knocks on youw doow, and he has a sidekick(Krampuss)who is not a vewy nice guy..anyway, he asks youw pawents if you've been good ow bad, and if you wewe good, Mikulas gives you lots of choklits and tweats, and pats you on the head and smiles a lot..but if they say you wewe bad...ohhhh, you don't even want to know..the krampuss guy has a swich in his hand, and he whacks you on the behind with it(just once, and not vewy hawd, but it must be hooomiliating)

Mommi aways got the choklits, but she told me thewe wewe a couple of bad kids in theiw apt. building who aways wewe nasty and guess what they got.....
I'm suwe none of my fwiends have evew been bad, so this wouldn't be a pwoblem, but sheeesh...

Anyway, gussie and his Muzzew also have a St Nicholas Day twadition(pwobably not as scawy as in Hungawy), and they sent me a gift fow the occasion...just look!

This is a pawtial view of the giant box that Gussie and his Muzzer sent me and my Mommi fow St.Nicholas Day! Mommi took all hew wondewful pwezzies out and was aweady weawing them so I couldn't take theiw pictoowe, but boy was she happy...she must have been vewy good.

I got a wed stowm coat...complete with hood, and some supew dupew tweats that awe appwoved by Gussie and Teka who taste tested them. and thweee! count them , thwee stuffies, which miwaculously awe still alive
Thank you so vewy much Gussie and Muzzer!!! that was sooo nice of you, muwahhhhh!

This is a pictoowe of MIKULAS at my Mommi'shouse in Budapest...my Mommi is two yeaws old and those wewe hew pawents, my Gwamama and Gwampapa..I nevew got to meet them, but I think they wew vewy nice....Mommi of couwse got lots of choklits and tweats cause she was a good little giwl, just like I want to be.
I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GWEAT IDEA IF WE HAD A HOLIDAY PAWTY FOW STNICHOLAS DAY, WHEWE WE CAN TALK ABOUT OUW DWEAMS AND CELEBWATE WITH EACH OTHEW AND TWY MY MOMMI'S COOKIES AND ANYTHING ELSE WE CAN THINK OF,
AND AFTEW WE'VE PLAYED ENOUGH CHASE AND WESTLE AND BITEYFACE, WE CAN GATHEW AWOUD THE PIANO AND SING SOME SONGS..

I ONLY KNOW CHWISSMUSS SONGS, BUT I'M HOPING MY JEWISH PUPPY FWIENDS WILL TEACH ME SOME OF THEIW HANNUKAH SONGS TOO..AND MAYBE WE CAN PEWSUADE GIRLGIRL TO BWING HEW VIOLIN AND PLAY, AND JOEY AND TANNER AND DAISY CAN PLAY THE DWUMS AND OF COUWSE ANYONE ELSE WHO WANTS TO DANCE OW SING OW PLAY AN INSTWUMENT CAN DO SO TOO!

WHAT DO YOU THINK???? I THINK WE'D HAVE LOTS OF FUN!

Pleez tell me if you'we coming
you can dwess ow not..dwess is optional hehehe

We would love to come, but since Maria found out about the last time when I drove the whippet wagon, she has put all four of her feet DOWN. (And has hid my key.) It sounds like such a beautiful time. Well, maybe if I started running now, I'm pretty fast you know.

Hey Asta! What a fantastic idea! That was really nice of Gus to send you all that fun stuff, and I love the old picture of your mom and Mikulas. He sure has funny glasses. Maybe after the party we can go ice skating there at the big place in NYC? Like in the movies?

Dear Asta,

We'd love to come to your party. What a cool idea! In a day or so, we'll post our Hannukah blog so you'll see what we'll be wearing for the party.

There are a few nice Hannukah songs that Mom has taught us -- but she always tells Dogdad, no fair, you all got the best music. She loves Christmas carols, and probably knows them better than Dogdad does!! (Mom is so old that it was still OK to sing carols in school!!!)

We loved that old photo -- and it seems that your Mom looks a lot like her Mom. Yes??

Lots of love,

Jake and Just Harry

Gus said...

Wow! We are coming! I gotta call E.Rabbit for some new sweaters! Teka ate the ones from last year.

What a wonderful idea!

Gonna go book on Aire Ruby NOW
ps..love the picture!

Daniella said...

I'm coming for sure! The date is good as Hanukkah is over that same week. Jake, Harry and me will be happy to teach everyone the Dreidl song and Ma'ot Tzur - I think they are as nice as Xmas carols. We hung our hanukkah decorations in our window already, hopefully this year our big dreidl (spinning top) won't get stolen by the stupid neighbors (who aren't even Hanukkah celebrants).
We love that old photo, that dude is scary. Was that a hooman dressed up or a mannekin?
We will drink a toast to your grandmom and pop at the party! Mom says she'll bring the latkes and donuts and chocolate coins, and many dreidls so we can all play the Dreidl Game - it's more fun than poker! We will also bring our menorah so we can light the pawsome candles. Mom says Hanukkah is her favorite festival. I will show you how to make latkes and play the game on my blog before the pawty.

Oh Asta, You are so funny. You always have something going on. Are you trying to be the next New York City IT girl with all your socializing?

I promise I will only try to take one ball off the tree, as long as some other doggie hasn't peed on it. Better tell your mom not to put the good carpet down. You know how those boys can be, lifting their legs all over the place.

xo
SB

p.s. Mom says to tell you that her xmas trip to NY is shaping up nicely and she will probably be staying in Ft. Greene, Brooklyn at a friend's place, so an easy jaunt to the village one afternoon to see you.

My Dearest young Astahairydog,
Thank you for your lovely invitation. Forgive the lateness of this reply; I have only just found out about your pawty. Apparently the young 'uns were trying to hide it from me.
I am delighted to inform you that I will be in attendance. My driver Sam I Am will escort me, but he must remain in the van due to past indiscretions.
I thank you again for your most kind consideration.
sincerely,
