Bastille Day

I'm sending all of my doggie fwiends big smoochie fwench kisses for a happy Bastille Day...I know I'm not Fwench, and neither awe you, but it's a good weason to have a pawty, so I seize the moment.....so this is what I did....
This is where we started our celebwating for Bastille Day...duck rillettes, french bwead and wine, yummmmm(water for me)
You can just see my stripey Mommi in the backgwound at the baw, in fwont of her is a live band, they were pwetty goodWhen we got done celebwating at Le Deux Gamin, we decide to continue by walking over to auntie Kawens apawtement and pwetending that she has a deck.............
This is how we had to come out to the "deck"...thfru the window(have you noticed that my Mommi wears the same outfit for fourfth of July and Bastille Day???)it's the onlyest thing she has that's blue and white and wed...she's usually in solid black like a twue manhattanite.
I know this is all bluwwy, but I wanted you to see how clever we were, we set up a table and chairs out on auntie Karwen's pwetend deck(it's actually scaffolding awound her building ..but we NYers are nothing if not inventive, heheheh)
You have to take evewy oppowtunity, you don't want to miss a thing at these dinners

Mommi is a pwetty good shawer, I test all cheeses fow her to make suwe they're not tewwible to eat
Well awen't you going to shawe auntie Kawen????
Jeeez Daddy, there's no need to be so pwotective, it's not like I was going to take the whole thing, but that liver stuff suwe smells good
I think Id like some cornichons to go with my goose liver pleeez
HMMMMM, nice cheese selection, I'm moving fwom plate to plate so fast I'm bluwwy heheheh
Awe you absolutely suwe that her's no mooowe?????
The view fwom aunt Kawen's "deck" back towards my house and the Hudson
Total Bastille day exhaustion has finally set in..I don't know how those fwench puppys can take all this celebwrating
I suwe hope all of you had a tewwific weekend too.
Sleep tight and I'll talk to you all soonest
lots of love and smoochie kisses
Asta

Wow! What a feast! Lucky you. I like cheese, too. That is a great idea. I will ask Mommie if I can be her taster, too. Hee hee!

Wow Asta! You're Bastille Day was so much fun that you had to have it twice. Was the cheese selection as good the second time around? hee hee hee!

My mom just read a story today that was set in the Village, and although it was not really a happy story, it made her think about Manhattan and her doggie friend Felix and it made her sad that she wasn't there.

I raise a dog cookie to you, for having such a great celebration and un jour splendide!

Looks yummy! Do you eat crackers with your cheese? I like the wheaty ones that come from England. I see it as international cooperation!

Sassy Asta!

Happy Bastille Day, girlie! Your family is VERY celebratory! I like that, and am stinkin' happy for you since it means lots of yummy eatables (looks like cheese-intensive eatables) for you.

I'm proabably showing my ignorance here, sweetpea, but what is that on your collar? Is it a coaster? A doilie? It's a very clever way to show your colors, whatever it is!

Is your daddy at all food aggressive, or is he just protective? Reassure him that you are a classy, sophisticated urban puplet who never resorts to *stealing* her food. You're a lady (a saucy, spunky foxy lady, but a lady nonetheless). If he is food aggressive, having him eat in another room while you and your mommi eat would totally do the trick I think.

Your Auntie Kawen's deck was so cool. How much longer will she have it? She should hold a midnight dance party out there while she can. (I like to dance... I think).

Goober love & kisses to you and your mommi & daddy!

Hi Asta, you sure had a fun Bastille day. Too bad we weren't there, we're honorary "french" poodles you know. even if we aren't really french, the french people loved us enough to call us their own. we really love to party too! you really do live the New York life. we think that after all that partying, we would be joining you on the comfy rug also!
