Now to show you we awe not all about being Shelfish and fun, I'd like you to please wead this and leave a comment to help assistance doggies!

“It’s Good to Give…This Season!”
What better way to celebrate the holiday season then through Bark It Furward, a program created to raise awareness and funds for Canine Assistants, a non-profit organization that trains and provides service dogs for children and adults with physical disabilities and the Milk-Bone® brand’s long-time charitable partner since 1997. For nearly 20 years, Canine Assistants has provided 1,000 service dogs to people across the country, giving them the chance to have more independent lifestyles.

Many people in need of a service dog depend on Canine Assistants to pay for the lifelong care of the dog. Without the help of any government funding, Canine Assistants relies on the generosity and private donations made by philanthropic partners, like Milk-Bone®, to help pay for the training of these special needs dogs. In an effort to help care for and train more assistance dogs for recipients across the country, Milk-Bone® is asking you to rally around Canine Assistants.

Bawk It Fuward was created by Milk-Bone® brand to educate others about the inspiring work being conducted by Canine Assistants. By joining the Bawk It Fuward movement, you can help raise awareness and much needed funds to provide assistance dogs for people with disabilities.

So for evewy comment left on my bloggie through January 4th, Milk-Bone® will give Canine Assistants ONE WHOLE GWEEN PAPEW! Can you believe it? That’s all you have to do. Just leave a comment on this postie and Canine Assistants gets gween papews. Sewiously! How supew easy is that?
So what awe you waiting fow? Get commenting!

Canine Assistants® is a non-profit organization, founded in 1991, which trains and provides service dogs for children and adults with physical disabilities or other special needs. In addition to physically assisting those with disabilities, Canine Assistants service dogs are instrumental in removing many of the barriers faced by the disabled in today’s society.
Service Dogs
Canine Assistants service dogs assist children and adults with physical disabilities or other special needs in a variety of ways. Some of the tasks the dogs perform include turning lights on and off, opening and closing doors, pulling wheelchairs, retrieving dropped objects, summoning help and providing secure companionship. While all of these functions are vitally important in helping a person obtain greater freedom, perhaps the most impressive gift the dogs provide is social, rather than physical, in nature. The dogs eliminate feelings of fear, isolation and loneliness felt by their companions. One Canine Assistants recipient made the value of this gift quite clear when asked by a reporter what she liked most about her service dog. Immediately, she responded, “My dog makes my wheelchair disappear.”
Most Canine Assistants service dogs are born, raised and trained at the Milton, Georgia facility, while some are occasionally adopted from local organizations or breeders. The majority of the service dogs are retrievers, including both Golden Retrievers and Labradors.
Companion Dogs
Like service dogs, companion dogs also serve to assist children and adults with physical disabilities or other special needs. Companion dogs work primarily in a recipient’s home, assisting with tasks around the house and more importantly, contributing to the emotional well being of the person.
Seizure Response Dogs
In addition to service dogs and companion dogs, Canine Assistants also trains and provides seizure response dogs for certain recipients. As with some of the service dogs, these dogs are adopted from various organizations and selectively screened for personality, temperament and general health. Following general training, seizure response dogs are trained to perform one of the following behaviors, depending on the recipient’s need: remain next to the person during the course of a seizure, summon help in a controlled environment or retrieve a phone prior to the seizure when indicated by the recipient. Certain dogs may even develop the ability to predict and react in advance to an oncoming seizure once they are placed with their recipient.

Okay, awe you done weading now? Then leave me a comment! Um, pwetty please?

Thank you sweet fwiends

WE MADE THE TIMES???!!! Oh, that just rocks...can you imagine how this will increase my exposure...er um no pun intended...

Speaking of exposure...I got that peemail from Mango...what's this...??

The VERY FIRST TIME I GOT ON A NYC subway with you, you told me to take off my pants...that when in New York, this was PROPER. I believe the term you said was "MAN DA TORY to weeemove one's er pants"....

And I so wee member wondering if it was so MAN DA TORY that you left yours on EVERY SINGLE TIME, and you always seemed to have an attack of BROWN KITE US and coughed like a mad dog.

So in terms of whom is negatively influencing whom??????????

I'm just sayin'...

Hi, Asta. Guess everyone else knows where to find Lacie's blog. When we clicked, it said no such blog. Your link is - http://holiterriers.blogspot.com/

We had to google it and first came across a Holy Terrier blog that made us cry because both the beautiful terriers had left for the bridge. Finally we found Lacie. She's here -
http://holyterriers.blogspot.com/

Did you really get arrested just for playing games?

You know, I gets told ALLLLLL the time that my BFF Puddles (you mighta heard of her) is a bad influence. Well, isn't that just about the ker-aziest thing you ever heard? She's no more of a bad influence on me than your BFF Lacie is on you. I mean, think of how BORING life would be without them! If it wasn't for Puddles, I might not have ever discovered Cheetos!

And that Stonehenge thing - sheesh! Those peoples are just wacky. They need to learn how to speak good old American. I mean, everybuddy knows it's pronounced "terrierist" and not "terrorist."

Oh, Asta. I just hate it when mean people say mean things about Lacie. Or anydoggie or anybody else who is so misunderstood. I know the truth about her. She was so sweet and kind when Jakey and I visited. Nothing like the reputation she is purported to have. Not at all. The media (and some others) just look for sensational stories. And create them if they don't already exist. Zheesh.

Poor Lacie. (But I have a question. Why did she say such mean things to you? Now I'm totally confused.)

Anyhow. We all know your good hearts and intentions. Your post about the comments and green papers for Canine Assistants is just one little example. (We hope they get lots of money and are happy to help with our comment.)

Now. It's time to go see Lacie's side of the story.

Pee esS. Watch our blog. We hope to share some exciting news soon!

Oh Asta, you and Lacie just go together - you know like the horse and carriage!
We loved you all coming to the UK although confess we were a little worried about all those terriers in the UK at one time.
You do seem a little, how shall we say this, highly strung!!!
It is no wonder you ended up in the jail!
Well since the students protest in London the authorities are a little less tolerant of youthful exuberance and you are all certainly exuberant!
Sporting a college scarf unfortunately does draw attention!
Thank dog Eric came to the rescue.......he is a quick thinking terrier for sure.

Good work by Milk Bone - we will have to leave more than one comments or are there rules about that!
We do need more and more of those green papers!!!
