Hello Fwiends
Hewe I am all wawm and cozy in my bed on anothew fweezing day, but not all fuwwfwiends awe so lucky
A fwiend of mine fwom West Village Dogs( that's my gwoup fwom the wun I go to) sent me this lettew..
Dear Friends,
I write this letter with a heavy heart, as I am in search of a new owner for my dog Oliver. As many of you know, I am moving to Germany on March 18th to join my boyfriend. We had every intention of Oliver being there with us. He even had a plane ticket and crate for the trip. Unfortunately though, a DNA test confirmed he is a American Staffordshire Terrier and Bull Terrier mix, neither of which are allowed to be brought into the country. Thus, Oliver is in need of a forever home and perhaps you know the perfect friend or family member who could provide that for him.
Oliver is a healthy 7 year old young man. While he weighs 89 lbs, he often thinks he is a lap dog. He is gentle, intelligent, extremely goofy and has the best personality. He loves to be with people (including children) and is socially motivated.
He loves searching for treats, performing tricks, making people laugh and playing tug. He is fearful around other dogs and can become aggressive; however, he does not lunge, so he is a pleasure to walk with and he is great on the leash.
Overall he is an amazing dog. I adopted Oliver when he was 6 months old and was told, “all this dog wants to do is please.” It is so true, and in return he simply wants to be loved and be near you, whether you are working, walking, making dinner or napping. He just wants to be part of the pack.
If you or any close friends/family members of yours would be interested in adopting Oliver please let me know.
Thank you,
Heather Metcalfe

We hope Oliver can find a wonderful home. It must be very hard on Heather too. We hope he can find a wonderful new home.
So many pups in need. We are all very worried about Twix and are hoping there is some good news today. And poor Butchy - not another one! We are crossing our paws for all of them, including Noah's furiend Colin.

Oliver looks really sweet. We are purring he finds a home soon. We knows his Mom is going to miss him.
Love your background it reminds us of spring. We loves hummingbirds and peacocks here. A friend of Mommy's raises peacocks and Mommy loves to see them roosting in her oak tree when she goes to visit.
Oliver's family must be heartbroken!
We are praying for all of them, so much worry!
Hugs,
Oskar
Ohh Asta how awful for poor Oliver I so hope someone will offer him a wonderful home very soon. He looks a spiffy chap and if I lived over there I would have him in a heartbeat.
I will say a prayer for everyone you are worried about sweetheart. Try not to worry too much or you will make yourself poorly hon.
Take care sweet girl

Asta, You in the header, and your blog both look beautiful.
Sooooo sorry about Oliver and Butchy.
Great post, Asta. We hope Oliver soon has a new home. But it has to be very hard for his mom to give him up. Some things in life just aren't fair, are they!
We hope your friends get well too.
That is so sad about Oliver, what a sweet boy. It is sad that he could be banned from a country because of his lineage.
Paws crossed for all tonight.
Wyatt and Stanzie
That's so sad...hope Oliver gets a new home soon.
Miss Asta,
That is just heartbreaking. I know that with your good thoughts and all of us in blog land he will find a home for sure. But that won't help his mom from feeling so sad for missing him.
Slobbers,
Mango
Oh my, if it was my mom, she would choose me over a boyfriend, but I'm sure your friend has a much better boyfriend who is worth it, unlike the bad boyfriends my mom has had :) Anyway, I hope Oliver can find a good home with someone to love him. He looks so sad in those photos like he knows that something isn't right.
Teddy
I feel so bad for poor Oliver! If that happened, my mom would be beside herself!

Thanks for the report Asta!
How very sad that a loving family has to part with their dogs because of stupid laws!

I saw that email too. Frankly, I was surprised they needed a DNA test as some of those results are clearly wrong--who was it with the enormous dog and the results came back that the two dominant breeds were chihuahua and Pomeranian? Unless you do the tests that cost thousands of dollars, the results are pretty much just a crap shoot. I don't know why the owner didn't just say Oliver is a boxer. I'd certainly fight this harder if I were his owner.
Oh, Asta! Poor Oliver! This just makes me so sad all over. And you know what's the craziest thing? Somebuddy could bring in a really aggressive, mean dog into that country as long as it was a different breed. But a sweet boy like Oliver can't go cuz of what his dee-en-ay says. It's so very not fair and it makes me barking mad, that's for sure.
My paws are crossed for Oliver and for all of our other furends.

BSL... GRRR!!!! I hope Oliver finds a fantastic forever home. Please keep us posted!
Sending more love to Butchy!!

PeeS: Love your header!
Our paws are crossed for Oliver and his parents-it must be devastating to have to leave your dog behind. He sure is a beautiful boy! And thanks for letting us know about our other furfriends who need our pawsitive thoughts.
P.S. Your header picture is priceless! Until now, my favorite was your Cinco de Mayo "photo" :-)
Paws crossed for all our friends who are not feeling well!
It is very sad the situation for Oliver and his mom. I hope he will find a lovely home!
Take care
Kisses and hugs

I had a friend who had to break up her pack of five dogs when she moved to Germany. So sad. I prayer we found a good home for Oliver. I know with the wonderful dogs in this network someone will find a place for him and help to heal his broken heart.
With so much sadness, every once in a while a good belly laugh helps. We're so glad you listened to the show. They did cut out a lot of the hysterical things that Carl Hiaasen said -- stuff that makes it seem even crazier to live here -- but it was great fun.
The show is very conversational -- and if anyone goofs up, at the end they rerecord. The audience got to stay for that -- and then Peter Siegel answered questions. It seems that the panel members write their own "bluff the listener" segments. Didn't know that.
Wirey kisses to everyone -- especially to your mommi!!!

I have the solution and it's simple. That is to keep Oliver, stay in the US, and lose the boyfriend.
I'm serious. Sounds like she's making all the sacrifices.
Love and Lots of Koobuss Kisses,
Koobie's Mom
What a sweetie pie Oliver is. What a cute face! I am thinking that he will find a furever home soon. I will send purrs his way that this will happen. How sad that his folks cannot take them with them when they go overseas. Too sad.
Oh that is a sad story! This isn't really Angel Tucker talking, but I wanted to let you know that my family adopted a new Wire Fox Terrier today and he has his own blog at http://harleyswireyworld.blogspot.com/
Please go wish him a warm welcome. My whole family will be praying that ALLLLLLL the doggies out there fine furever homes like I did!!!
We'll send lots of purrs, prayers and woofs to Oliver. We hope he gets a new forever home soon.
The Florida Furkids and Angel Sniffie
we think that Oliver's mommy should stay home with him. mommys should not have to leave their children. it's so sad.
our human reads about lots and lots of dogs who are sad and they need homes. some of them live outside and they don't know the warm love that we know. she says her heart is broken by these sad stories and they never end. we lick her and pester her and then she plays with us and hugs us and isn't sad any more.
we hope Oliver can find a good home. our human wants to give every dog a good home and it makes her very sad that she isn't able to. we will cross all of our paws for Oliver and his mom.
woofs
ASTA THAT IS SO SAD FOR OLIVER AND HIS MAM HEATHER WHEN THEY WANT TO BE TOGETHER.
WE DO HOPE HE GETS A NICE NEW FAMILY.
Oh dear Asta we are so sad for Oliver. We sure hope he finds a good, new home. We had NO idea that they must do DNA before getting into Germany! We are keeping our paw crossed for Colin, Twix and dear little Butchy. Oh, btw, we put a viedo on our latest post for YOU!!
Smooches,
BabyRD & Hootie
We're with Petey and Koobuss, in that order, on this one. Good grief! Oliver does NOT deserve this! God send him a guardian angel super quick. Does his mom have any family that might shelter him while she's gone?
We're so sorry about Butchy, but we're sure your visit with your entourage cheered him enormously.
Jed & Abby
We are so very sad to read Oliver's story. Asta we hope that someone can offer him a new home.
All paws crossed here for Oliver.
Sending lots of pawsative thoughts for Twix, Butchy and Colin.

Hello, Asta! I have been following you from Fred's blog. I adored your Christmas post-SO warm and loving.
Now as for Oliver, would a letter from his vet pertaining to his character, several letters of character from friends to the authorities, and perhaps, a petition do his case any good?
I will pray for them all.
Happy days, Asta!
Leah
Oliver sounds lovely.
We HATE breed-specific legislation. It's so stupid. It should be the deed not the breed that counts.
Hope he finds a lovely home really soon. You are a good pal for helping out.
xx
We posted a link to your post for Oliver. We're hopeful he will get a wonderful home. It must be hard for your friend to part with him.
Oh Asta~
We hope Oliver gets a home.. Him name reminds of one of Momma's favorite movies growing up..

Oh Asta!! I am so sorry your friend is losi g his home. Mommy would be devestated if she could keep me. I have to agree with Koobus...ditch the boyfriend and stay with Oliver. We pray he fiends a good home soon.
WE don't got no snow here, wanna come stay with me and Weenie for awhile?
{{{huggies}}}...Mona & Weenie too!1
Oh we wish we could take Oliver but since he is fearful of other dogs he probably wouldn't like Levi who LOVES play and doesn't know when to stop playing.
Please let us know and update if you have one. We are praying he finds a new home. How sad after so much time with his family.
STOP BREED RESTRICTION LAWS!!!
