Good and bad table manners

As you all know by now, I'm a wowld class foodie, hehehehehe
I beg at the table all the time

my bwuvvew Duffy on the othew hand is an angel..totally unintewested in the dinnew table

but ,in my defense, I submit to you sweet fwiends the following evidence of my innocence

all I was doing was admiwing Mommi's plate of Fettucini Alfwedo that auntie Kawen had made
( I mean who wif a nose wouldn't, well, xept Duffy and Petey who only cawes about tennis balls, but that's just weiwd)

as you can cleawly see hewe it's all Mommi's fault

then came Saltimbocca and spinach..well, I ask you...............

I can't help it if Mommi fowces me to eat these things, hehehehehe
she has tewwibull table mannews

of cowse it's anothew mattew when we move away fwom the table
my little "angel" bwuvvew seems to have a sweet toof, hehehehe

I think asking fow icy tweats desn't count..anyway blood owanges awe good fow you.and they'we the most bootiful colow
evewyone needs vitamins

note from Mommi:
Asta's bad habits are completely my fault..once you give a furrkid food from the table, all bets are off, so be warned
if you want a well manered pup, don't feed them people food

smoochie kisses,

We have the same problem at our house, Asta. Before our pawrents got their very first doggie, Mom told Dad that there would be no dog begging at the table. Ha! The next thing she knew...Dad had the doggie on his shoulder feeding her pepperoni. From then on, Daisy begged for people food! She taught the next doggie and the next doggie taught the next doggie...well, you get the idea! NOone eats, in this house, without an audience of 3 furkids!

You know it is our job as family members to check and make sure the foodies are ok for our hoomans to eat. That's what we think and we're sticking to it.

We can see that you have very good manners. At least you are not on top of the table eating out of mommi's bowl. We like to sit next to the eaters also, except maybe Dawson who likes to chew on his paws more than anything.

Hmm...that "note from Mommi" came out all blurry on our puter screen...(glasscleaner needed?) but it LOOKED like she said...

FEED UR DOGS FROM THE TABLE NOW...THEY ARE STARVING AND NEED SUSTENANCE.

Yeppers..that's why we love ur mommi and why we adore visiting...

I see you've take lessons from the great Italian Foxie Wire

Romano Parmesano

on how to slurp fettucine...or however you spell it...much better to eat it...

What was that stuff next to the delissssssh look spinach? Had never heard of it...

Our last foxie hated spinach...he'd pull it out of his bowl and place it in a neat pile of the floor. Dunno why they gave it to him in the first place...

Kisses...Laciegirlie

Pee ess...Snicker's fever is back...need to go out there in our uniforms.....

Ha - words out of our Momster's mouth to the Dadster. He is a real sucker for our sad faces and does feed us at the table no matter how many times Mom tells him no. Then he complains when we bug him for more. We never bother Mom because it is pointless - Mom's point exactly.

But she does say that she herself would have a very hard time not begging for some of that yummy food you are always tempting us with on your posts:)

Asta,
I think that is perfectly acceptable table manners! We are just trying to help our mommies stay thin! Mama says I have super powers when it comes to the possibility of food. No matter where I am in the house, when she closes the fridge door, i am patiently waiting!
Love,
Janie

Asta, who cares about table manners with all that yummy food about!
We like to see a girl enjoy her food - there is too much of this picking at food these days.
We enjoy seeing you at the table....on the table ......enjoying every single morsel.
We notice that you make your mom smile - what a great gift that is.
We say leave manners to the humans - something else of no importance for them to worry about!
Thank dogness we are dogs!!!
love you lots

Well Asta, good to see that Mommi has come forth and admitted to being an enabler. And I don't beg at the table because I'm focused on tennis balls - I just know that I'm not going to get anything because my Mom only feeds me people food in my bowl.

Now that Mommi has admitted the crime, why doesn't she just set a place for you at the table? You could certainly sit in a chair and enjoy your meal with dignity, rather than be reduced to begging. And you certainly could add to the sparkling dinner table conversation!

Your pal,

Petey

P.S. Don't know if it's just because we're on a Mac, but it is awfully hard to read your comments on this dark background with gray type!

Asta my dear. Miss Enid her. I've consulted the Eat A Cat books little Lacie gave me. It says dogs should always tuck one's linen napkin into one's collar when partaking sustenance at, under, or beside the dinner table. Did they provide you with one? I thought not. Seems the leggeds Miss Der Meaners lead to this teensy lapse in your table manners. Dearie me, hardly your fault Asta. Remember to pen your thank you note to Auntie Karen for such a doglightful evening and all will be forgiven.

Warmest felicitations to you all,
Miss Enid

Hats off to Asta! I would say from looking at these photos that you have trained your mom well. She must have been a fast learner. Keep up the good work and you can still teach her more things and get more eats for yourself.
I did notice the one photo of you waiting for the food . . . well I have to say I think you were smiling. WAY TO GO!!

With all that glorious food, who could blame you for begging, Asta? I would beg too! haha! As it is, Kenji and I beg whenever we see food...regardless of where it is or even if it's NOT people food! LOL! That's how food-driven we are...=P

Mom finds it embarrassing because we look like we haven't eaten in a while when we've actually just had our dinner before going to 'prey' on other people's food...haha!

Kousin Asta,

It's way to late for me. I love people food.

Whenever my family is eating, first I go to my mom and get what I can from her, then I go to Grandpaw and get what I can from him, and only when they are finished, will I go to my own dish and eat what is in there. This system works very well.

Whatever your Mommi was eating, it sure looked good. You were very smart to stay by her side!

Good job, kousin! Brains must run in the family (except for Duffy, sometimes.) hehehe...

What? Are you suggesting that dogs are not supposed to peer at, stand near, sit by, crawl up, climb upon, reach toward, breathe on, drool on, bite at and eat people food? We never heard such a thing. It is just a given that we get little tastes. It might appear that we get monstrous portions (and on rare occasion, we might), but we politely limit ourselves to teeny little bites so we can keep our svelte and lean figures. Just like you! And we would NEVER eat all the icing on a cake! Never!

Dear Asta,
You are completely vindicated.. clearly it's your mom's fault. But we'd like our mom to behave more like your mom.. i.e. feeding us more from the table!! Can you get your mom to teach our mom some 'proper' table manners? :)

Luna "The Scruffy Yacht Dog" said...

Dear Asta,

I have been accused of being a food hound at times.... well all the time. You are so right. How can a furrykid resist the temptation of human food smell? Bad mommy for contributing to your table manners.... hehehe. I take a more subtle approach and stare laserbeams into my mom while making my foghorn sound so she doesn't forget I'm there. I wouldn't have a shot with Dad as Fettuccine Alfredo is one of his favorites.
