Oh Asta, your mum sounds like ours! She has been so sad this week with all the sad news. We are doing our best to cheer her up - running about and doing daft things. She did like us running about the garden with Martha playing with the silly tub. Martha was so withdrawn and scared when she arrived so we are pleased to see her coming along.
Mum says that all the sad news reminds her of how awful she felt when her dog died & when each of her parents died. She is heartbroken that other people are now going through that loss - grief is something we all have to get through alone even though everyone does try to help. It is good to know that people do care but your mom and our mum know it is a long painful journey.
She was even thinking that blogging has opened up a world of grief but that is just silly because we are so pleased to have met all our new friends.
The virtual hugs never seem enough somehow and you are frustrated that you cant just go round, give someone a hug and put the kettle on!
It wont always feel this bad - Gibran said 'when happiness sits on your shoulder, sorrow is asleep in your bed'.
Basically reminding us that life is about happiness and sorrow - without one we wouldn't know the other.
That sounds confused but we hope you know what we mean. Our mum is off to work now but she will be back at lunchtime and we will get out for a nice walk - that always helps.
Take good care of each other
lots and lots of special basset kisses
Martha, Bailey & Mum xxxx (mum sending more virtual hugs cos she cant do basset kisses!)
oh dear Asta, please give your Mum some Marvin Hugs from us.
It has been a very sad time on the Dog Blogs, the tide has to turn sometime though, and happiness roll in across the waves.
Our thoughts are with you.
and your Mum. xxxxx

Sweet Asta, we are all so sad this week....so many furries and peeps leaving for the bridge, there are not enough words, nor enough tears.
Someone said on Honey's blog this morning that grief is the price we pay for love, think it was Opy....and never a truer word spoken.
Wish we could just appear at your sides and give you and your Mommi a big hug....and dear Jane and Petey...and everyone else who is feeling sad right now.
You take good care of your Mommi ok?..and give her lots of your special lovin :D
Sad salty slobbers xx
Asta sweety,
It is a sad time but I guess this is what we all have to go through simply because we know so many doggie, kitty and hammies all over the world. It's the price we pay for having so many good friends and I guess that is the important part.
Please give your mummy some super dale smooches from all of us.

We're not much into country music -- but there's one song -- by Garth Brooks -- that says, I could have missed the pain, but then I would have had to miss the dance.
The price we pay for all the joy that getting to know our bloggie friends and sharing our love and friendship with them is the inevitable aching sadness when they grow ill and leave us.
We understand how your mommi and you feel. Ours has been terribly sad too -- and she keeps thinking about your friend Auntie Jane, and Petey, and knows how much you all care about each other -- and about all your friends.
Wirey love, sweetie!!!
Jake and Just Harry
Sorry we haven't been by for awhile. Myrna's shower looked like fun. We can't wait to see pictures of the wedding.
We wishes we could do something to cheer you and your Mom up. Take care and know that we are thinking about you. ~Socks, Scylla, Charybdis & Fenris
That park is absolutely lovely! Just imagine, all our friends are playing in a park like that- one million times larger- and one billion times lovelier! we can't even imagine how wonderful they must have it there! The bridge is a magical place. And yes, it's hard when we lose friends. Mom has seen a lot of fluffies go lately at work too. A few she knew really well, a few she didn't. She comes home leaky a lot. But we still know, they're going to a better place.
You can never give up, because we have to keep their memory alive and with us here! Remember that, it's important!

We're so sorry that you've been feeling sad. Sometimes, there are moments in life that just seem to be filled with pain and more pain. And it's hard to get over those we love leaving us. All we can do is remember them with smiles, and treasure all those who are still with us. They deserve our joy in them!
Awww, we's sending some hugs and purrs to you and yours sweet Mommy.

KC

hi, asta! we feels yer pain, too. so many of the kitty blogosphere haf left us--an' inna last haf/year, our bean grampa an' two aunties. yes, a lotta sadness just ganged up on us an' our mom. we haf been furry dark-feeling' an' sad. but spring has finally come, an' mom makes sure to go outside efurry day (but she won't take US!!) for 15 minnits at least, an' she sez that's helpin' her. she also started takin' omega3 fish oil pills (yum!), an' her bean v-e-t gave her some meddysin called hormones. so she's feeing betterer than she has in almost a year. she really hopes yer mommi can find some relief; maybe talk to her bean vet an' see if there's a fizzical cause. please tell her she can email our mom through our profile if she'd like to bounce ideas offa her!

Ah little one, We know how she is feeling........it is a sad time and we wish we could all pop through the screen and give everyone a hug......We think Jake and Harry really summed it all up.......So look at the beautifull flowers and smell the wonderfull spring air and know that those who have left us are all still deep in our hearts and always will be....Love and very strong kisses A+A
Sweetest Asta and Mommi...
We know how you feel, we have been upside down around here too, more because of the sadness our friends are feeling than because of the remodel in my bedroom.
We are sending terrier kisses and hugs for you and Mommi, and Teka has thrown in a few JRT bounces too. Please use these judiciously. If you apply them vigourously and repeatedly, they can result in bruising.

My mum was feeling the same way soon after Bogart's daddy left us and so many others like girl girl and many other friends...but she seems alot better now....I was sad and told mum and then she woke up and told me that maybe we are here to help those through tough times and make them laugh when they feel they cannot laugh anymore. You always make me laugh and smile and I love your cutie face....please don't be sad...
Deetzy
Asta, we are feeling the same way you are, sweet girl.
It's such a special bond that all of us share in this community. It adds so much to our lives, and that opens the door for lots of hurt too. Take all the time you need to grieve, but don't give up, ok? We wouldn't know what to do without you around here!
Oh pretty Astakins,
We so know how your mommi is feeling. Mine went through a patch like that about 6 months ago and she thought she might not type my blog anymore. I am so glad she changed her mind. We hope your mommi gets to feeling better sooner and I am sending her tons of my healing sugars!
XOXXO

We have shed many a tear over the loss of dear friends, but then we remember that there are joyous times and funny things and silly things that happen, too. And I am glad to have friends like that. {{hugs}} to you and your mom.
We definitely go through times of sadness, worry, happiness, etc. Its ok to be sad sometimes and then you will find something to feel good about again. Times are hard right now, but things will improve.
You know Asta if you go to your Mommi and gently nuzzle up against her, she will be comforted just a little bit, I am sure.
Very best wishes to you both,
Hamish.
I know you be doing your very best to take good care of your Mom Asta. Sometimes I think those peoples be too clever for their own goods, they think too much and does not enjoy the simple things so much as we do. My Mum get terribly sad sometime, but my good cuddles and kisses help cheer her up and I sure your ones do too.
It beed such a hard time and it a horrible feeling to be so far apart in person from all these friends we make when we feels they needs us to give them lovings. :(
Hope your Mom feel better soon.
~lickies, Ludo
Asta,
Sometimes life is just sad, isn't it??? It's hard on us when our mommies are sad!!My mama and I are sending you and your mommi great big sloppy 'dale kisses and hugs!!
hey asta...i guess it's pretty hard to be happy all of the time especially when we loose loved ones, family or friends...
however, when our brains start remembering all the good things that our "lost loved ones" did, whether it be funny, loving or even aggravating...they are still loved and alive in our hearts... so she may be on the downside of the sad part of the past couple of weeks, but rest assured, with all this love flying around through cyber space and personally to you and her, she will be on the up-side soon.. we are sending you, gentle hugs, butt-bopps and slurps..also please pass them on to your mom for us, stay close -- we hope she'll think of us as "the blues" and not sad stuff -- cuz we are sometimes very much the clowns.... theBUSTER, Ms.Persephone & Ms.Blue
Sorry to hear your Mummy is feeling sad. We are sending nose licks to try and cheer her up.
Simba and Jazzi xxx
There has been a lot of sad news around, but tell mom this is the season of new life - spring. Give her lots of lickies and kisses and tell her to feel better.
Woos, the OP Pack
You're right to be sad dear Asta, it's been a hard couple of weeks. But we take hope in the fact that soon we'll meet new friends out there in blogosphere - that always keeps us going when we lose a lot of friends all at once.
Purrs to you sweet friend,
Pearl, Bert and Jake
I'm sorry your mommy is sad, Asta. Sometimes things don't go the way we want (and/or expect) and life gets very sad. Sometimes it's hard to see the sun even when it's shining. I'll pray that this time will pass for your mom and the emptiness won't feel quite so empty.
hi Asta, those are some fun pictures of you at the run that you showed us and we like the your park too. it looks very colorful.
we're sorry that your mommi is sad. our mom gets sad too, when Charlie left us she was sad, and she get sad every day when she looks for a job. she says we might be homeless, but we have always had a home so we don't understand that kind of talk. we know everything is okay, but sometimes it's hard to convince our mom.
we hope that your mommi will cheer up. maybe if you stick your cold wet nose on her it will help her.
woofs.

Asta and Mommy,
No wonder you are sad. We just backed up and caught up and know why. So many losses in such a short time. We guess that's what happens among friends, you share the joys and the tears.
We hope you are feeling a bit better. We feel a bit sadder, but that makes us feel even more alive.
We love you and our friends,
MIss Fergi and Jake
Asta and Mommy, we send you oooodles of loving hugs and kissies, we care and understand.

Asta, I could never be sad for long with you around - you are the sweetest dog! It has been such a pleasure to read your blog these past years, and you and your human have given my heart such needed comfort these past few days just by your presence in blogland. Thanks for being there! (I've dropped out a bit for a while, so I don't get too many tears in the keyboard, but I will be back in blogland soon)
Smoochiekisses
Charlie's human (who's far less loney than she would have been at this time had she not met all of the wonderful dogs and cats in blogland!)
Oh Asta...I hope your mommi's feelin' better...somedays life can be rather overwhelming, can't it?
Thank heavens you came and fixed Mumsie that yummy tater soup...did you put that WHOLE bottle of additives in it? She surely giggled a lot after she snarfed down a couple of bowls of it!!!

Yes, it's been a very strange couple of days, Kousin Asta.
The flowers and the park are bootiful. So is your Mommi. We love her, and you, and your Daddi, too.
Love and Koobuss Kisses,
Kousin Koobie
Better days are coming, my friend.
Dearest Ami and Asta! Now is that a true Hungawian spirit?! But we know there is a time and place for everything under the heavens. There are some aweful sad days surrounding us right now it seems. It feels super sad at times when our beloveds are sick. But dawn come new each morning and brings a promise of new and better things. Here at the cozy cottage we have learned to live one day at a time and make it the best day ever.
Maybe we should go on a vacation to Bern and have cake catered in from the Hotel Sacher? The mommies could speak Zscherman to each other!:)
You are my beloved friend Asta...know that!
Love us at the CC as we love you!((())))
Big hugs to you sweet Asta and your Mommy... One day we will meet all our friends over at the Rainbow Bridge where they'd welcome us with excited yaps and tail wags..

Aw, my Old Girl gets sad a lot, too, when puppies have to go over the bridge. Take care of your mom, Asta! Things will look brighter soon!
Asta,
I'm so sorry your mom is sad. This has been a tough week for sure. Just looking at those beautiful flowers in the park should help to lift her spirits, especially with you by her side. The hope of summer right around the corner is another wonderful thing to look forward to. Give your mom some licks and help her to feel better ok?
Pedro
Hi Asta,
Long time, no see. We haven't heard from you in awhile so wanted to check to see if everything is okay. We are sorry to hear that you and your Mommie are so depressed. We are thinking good thoughts for you and sending warm and snuggly prayers your way, okay? Take care and stop by soon! We miss you!
Love and kisses and wags,
Benson and Gibson
It is a very sad week. Too many friends left for the Rainbow Bridge. Too many. You know, it's funny, it's like a cycle. One minute, everything is fine then next minute, it happens & it just goes on! We wish no more doggies would leave anymore at least for now.
Smoochies,
Solid Gold Dancer
Ciao dolce Asta,
We are so sorry that your mommi is feeling so blue. Last week was such a hard week for so many, with so much sad news. We cried for Jane and Petey, and for Charlie's famiglia, and for Honey's, too.
Please go give your dear mommi baci and abbracci from us and tell her that we cherish her and her wonderful loving heart, and that we hope she's feeling better soon.
Lucia
We are so sorry that your momma is sad. We understand how she is feeling. It's hard to loose a loved one and then with all our other buddies that are ill or have passed.I guess it's our duty to try to cheer up our people.I'm pretty sure that that is part of our purpose in life.I think it is quite a responsibility, but we can handle it. Hang in there and give your mommy extra smooches from us please.
XXOO-BabyRD & Hootie
Asta
Don't worry, I am safe from the flooding cuz we live up on a hill..it just takes my mum forever to get home from work. My mum gets sad too and is still having a hard time with her faith a little, but then she says something happens...like getting a copy of the painting you did for Bogart and a sweet note, and she smiles and I smile...Then she knows we are all here attached together for a reason. Did you get a haircut Asta? You are looking marvelous in those photos.
Deetzy
We hope you are feeling better. Do not be sad. Remember all the good thoughts and good times.
Asta -
Please tell your mommi that we love her and are sending chihueagle smoochies and cuddles.
