It was with mixed feelings that I finally got back to blog land to read this news. I know we will all miss Max, but I think he was very tired and needed to go where he could be strong and young again.

Dear Sweet Asta.
You know we've been away from our blog for a few weeks now ... honestly we've only checked in to look for news that we would regret missing if we were gone too far too long. It was your note that alerted us to Max's passing. We're sad. In the past few days we've been so reminded of transitions ... some easy, some hard, some joyous, some very sad. It is with sadness that we read of Max ... but, in truth, he reminds us of the inevitability of those lows that are part of life and help to balance the highs that contrast with them.
We love you. We miss you. We think of you often. Especially Moma. She knows you understand.

Max was such a great pal, we had a lot of fun getting to know him and learn about his wonderful home.
