Deep thoughts and contests

I've been thinking sewious thoughts while walking in the lovely spwing aiw..mostly I was thinking of many of my fwiends who awe wescoo doggies, and who thankfully have found loving homes but continoo to have medical and social pwoblems because of the howwible tweatment they got in theiw eawly lives.

WE NEED TO STOP PUPPY MILLS!!!! These animals suffew while they awe thewe and fwom the abuse, they suffew even aftew being wescood.

fow instance my fwiend Merci

isn't she a sweetie? and she has loving pawents now who take cawe of hew, but still has pwoblems..pleez go visit hew and leave a loving message and wead about hew and hew mate Nolan

Here is Merci with Nolan at Cheryl's right after they were rescued. Merci, always being the mom, cleans Nolans ears.
Nolan lives in Illinois with Christine and Joe. He is their gentle giant. Nolan has been very ill too and goes in for his Endoscopy on Tuesday. He has been vomiting blood and has chronic diarreha. My fear is that Nolan has many of the same issues as Merci. We pray and hope they find the cause of his issues and are able to start him on the road to recovery along with Merci

My fwiends Fergie and Jake awe also fwom a howwid sitooation, and Fergie hasn't been feeling pawfect and will have to have a pwoceedoowe soon..pleez visit them too.

I love all my fwiends and hate the suffewing hoomans can inflict on them. Thewe's a lot to think about, and twy to figoowe out how to fix. Pleez twy to help whewevew you can..I know all of you cawe the same way I do.

Asta girlie, what would we do around here without you to keep us all informed!? Thanks for introducing us to those sweet wirey rescues. Momma says the longer she works with the pug rescue, the more she realizes how terrible people can be.

Your face-in-the-hole picture was fabulous! I am still giggling at it!

Have a great day, Asta! We sure are lucky to have such pampered lives, aren't we? If only every doggie and kitty were as lucky as us!

Love,
Pearly

We love you with that Asian flair Asta!

Yes we are all so thankful to have our furrever homes. Lilly and Paris both were rescued from bad situations.

And my first owner couldn't take care of me anymore so we all know what it feels like to be waiting on your furrever pawrents!

Sugars,
Mack

Every day our Mom wishes there were more that she could do to help the plight of puppy mill dogs. She often gets depressed and teary over it.

We will for sure go visit your friends and leave some kind words of encouragement Asta.

Thanks for posting the contest. Did you enter yet...???

That is a hugely worthwhile cause, Asta. We are constantly amazed at the stupidity and/or blindness of people who will buy puppies in pet shops, direct from puppy mills, and not think twice about what they are perpetrating.

Aw Asta. Our paw beautiful friend Merci. I saw that too on her blog. Shocking that their suffering should continue even after rescue. Hope there is something that can be done to stop them Mills.

We, too, went over to meet Merci and Nolan. Thank you for introducing them.

Those stinking puppy mills must be stopped. If a person wants a puppy they should either rescue or purchase from a reputable breeder. Purchasing puppies from petshops leads to the proliferation of those awful puppy mills. Thank you for doing your expose' on them.

We had to snicker a little bit at your picture - our huMom went to faceinthehole.com yesterday and did a similar one of Lilly and Carrlegh.

Have a restful evening dear friend,

Hi Asta, Thanks for highlighting the plight on puppy mills. Humans can be so cruel and selfish sometimes. I just wrote a post on dog eat dog, which is happening right now in a small fishing village in M'sia. It happened because the villagers shipped more than 300 strays to an uninhabited island with no food and fresh water. It is so sad...

Yep, yer right Asta, some rescues have problems even after they find lovin forever homes, just look at LizzaBella, she is still learnin that DawgMom & DawgDaddy love her & she will stay here with us, but she still gets nervous & tries to bite her tail til it bleeds if we don't watch her.
Great pikchur of you in that costume.

Asta, you are such a good friend and a great advocate. We're pretty wiped out these past few days ... it's nice to know that our friends are watching out for us ... all of us. It means a lot.

Now ... if our internet connection would just work so we could try to catch up a little ... we'd be lots happier.

You know how they say "when it rains it pours"? That's the truth. You can delete our perseverative comments if you want. Mom is saying ugly things to our computer, and she couldn't help us make them go away. We'd rather put our energy into other things ... like sleeping.

Thanks for your support.

Asta, we are soooo with you on the stopping of puppy mills! We can't imagine how hoomans can be so cruel to innocent doggies! We are sending lots of Aire-zen to all the rescue doggies with issues. Patches has been here, with us, for almost a year, now and she still has a few "issues", but most of them are gone now!

Aire-hugs,
Poppy, Penny & Patches

We are most envious of the people who have the patience and love to rescue doggies. They usually come with a lot of issues because of their difficult backgrounds. Momma has tried in the past, but except for her little Pi dog, has never been able to get past the difficult problems orphan dogs can bring.

We do donate our kibbles money to the rescue people, though.

Mango

we agree Asta.. the puppy mills need to stop. just thinking of all those homeless dogs and the dogs cramped in many shelters all over the world. some people think that dogs are mere "inventories" and "things" taht they can "use" to make a profit. well, we have hoomans too! and they sure dont take advantage of us to feed themselves. our hoomans work hard to give us better lives. i say, find a job, puppy millers! a decent one. not at the expense of another life. dogs are living beings, who give nothing but unconditional love, loyalty and friendship. if only people will start appreciating taht and learn from our simple joys and pleasures then the world would have been a better place too.

count us in on this Asta. we will all join paws to make this stop. one country at a time...

drooly kisses,

Aki

Hello saw a link over on the lovely scotties blog and came over to say hello and also to say I know just how you feel about the humans who do these awful things just for money. Mums friend has a lovely little king charles spaniel who is today having his third proceedure,he is always in pain, all because of the breeder. The vet said they should be shot.

It is so true that there are a few humans in this world who treat our wonderful furry friends atrociously. Rescuing can help, but we need to keep our eyes and ears open to help prevent the abuse. You are so thoughtful and kind to help others the way you do!

Hi Asta. Thank you for reminding us about the awful puppy mills - it's just so sad to think of all the doggies living in such bad conditons. There are a couple of stores here selling teacup puppies that are notorious for using puppy mills - and selling sick doggies that die! Terrible all the way around. But every time a puppy mill gets raided, there are nice people lined up around the block to adopt the dogs from the Humane Society. Thank goodness for nice people!

Your pal,
Joey

Hi Asta
We have just come back from our holiday a whole day early! We so hate puppy farms!!! We hate what some humans do to us animals - makes us really angry.
On a happier note we loved your wedding posts and wanted to say thank you for making us so beautiful!
We will visit Merci and will do anything to lend our support to bring an end to animal suffering! If all humans knew what went on they would never buy puppies without checking very carefully. Of course we like to think we do our best to show everyone how absolutely adorable rescue dogs are - even with a few little issues......
We missed you
love

puppy mills SUCK! They need to be stopped. Maisie and I were so lucky to have come from a responsible breeder! We try to never forget that, and mum supports all the local shelters. Especially the one that our kitties came from, because somebody put a lot of work into making them great kitty sisters.

Sweet Astaroni!

Even though you're very theatrical and a superb actress, you really don't look all that evil as your evil twin. You do look bootiful as a brunette, but I love your natural reddish/blonde hair!

I'm SO NOT a fan of puppy mills or pet stores who sell puppies. I hate the way that people look at pups and kitties as property rather than as a living thing who will love them. We'll go by to see Merci & Nolan. I also need to go by to see Fergi & Jake. I'm so behind on checking for everyone.

Thanks for letting us know about the contest. If you enter you'll probably win paws DOWN! I especially like your header photo that shows your smile!

Goober love & springtime smooches,

Why are some humans so horrible and think it's ok to have puppy mills. I wish all those horrid people would get swallowed up in a big black hole never to be seen again. We need more people like your mummy, our pinkies and all our dwb folks that want to help doggies and other animals not hurt them. Animals deserve better Asta.

We never knew much about puppy mills until we started reading DWB posts. Nightline did a show on them about a month ago and it was sad. There are even some Amish people who run puppy mills in the East. Incredible what they do to keep our fellow canines from making "noise". Just awful.

Asta,
I'm so glad that many of those puppy mills are getting shut down (I came from one of them too, but was so young that it didn't damage me). However, there are still too many of them operating today.

I hope your friends start feeling better and get the medical help they need, and start realizing they are safe and loved. It's sad to think of all those sensitive creatures being traumatized like that.
