  1. We love this idea Asta! We want to keep trying with you! Last night Parental Unit had homemade pizza and all I got was the crust (although delicious).

    Gelato sounds fabulous, too.

Glad your heatwave broke, as did ours.

    P.S. Love that header photo!

  2. OH ASTA.... the pizza looks AMAZING.. I am thrilled to hear that you found such a MAJOR STRENGTH TRAINING FOOD. All of this training REQUIRES excellent FUEL fur the Body and SOUL. You were wise to step up the intake.. to pawpare yourself fur the grueling events. Now... I wanna go tell MY mom... I think it is LUNCH time.

  7. That Pizza looks delishus! Do not give any to Gussie please as he is on a strict diet to loose a few pounds. Otherwise he will be over the weight limit and unable to fly over in the Gussiemobile. Man...that is one MOTIVATED terrier.

  9. Good idea, Kousin Asta. You are right to include it in your twaining diet because pizza, as you know, is a health food. It's got all the food groups and nutrients that a good athlete needs to be successful in competition. I tell my mom that all the time. We just had some yesterday, too. It was
    so good. Yum....

Love and Lots of Koobuss Kisses,

  10. Dear Asta,

I hate to be a buzzkill but pizza probably isn't the best thing for you to be eating - the sauce is usually made with tomatoes and onions ad that's not good for us pups. And especially since you've been sick, you might want to avoid stuff that can be dangerous!

Miss you at the swimming pool at the run!

    Your pal,

    Petey

We think your diet is just right and obviously, looking at your figure, (not that Rory was perving or anything cause he is a well tutored young man), it it working very well. See ya Miss Asta. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

  17. Oh Asta....that pizza looks delish, but not nearly as good as the Hasenpfeffer Stan and I had....Mumsie is um really really really upset with us...sheesch...besides Stan dared me to...

I suppose I have to go apologize to her as she said she's never ever getting out of bed again. And she needs to go to work tomorrow...

She said no story tonight and no cookies and milk either...

  19. Hi Asta
You really must keep testing all the available pizzas until you can decide on just the best one.
We both love having some pizza when the humans feel inclined to share.
They really are giving us the smallest of pieces and yet they know how much we love anything with cheese!
Good luck with your research and if you need any basset helpers let us know.
One bark and we will be there.
    Much love
    Martha & Bailey xx

  21. Gee Asta, that was a rather snarly reply. Since you're eating pizza in the photos -- I assume that's not photo-shop - I thought you might not realize that the stuff in pizza sauce (onions, tomatoes, garlic) is dangerous for dogs.

But you're right! I'm a killjoy. I forgot all the fun I had when I ate raisins in that panettone and Mom had to try to induce vomiting and then I got to go to the vet and get my stomach pumped (Yipee!) and then get not one but two blood tests (Needles! FUN!) And Mom was tickled pink to pay $500 for the experience.

Glad you're over your liver problems...

  22. Oh Asta, there appears to be what we in Scotland would call a wee 'stramash' going on between you and Petey in the comments to this post. Gail has told me I must stay out of it and so I'm just wishing you every success in your very important training for the Olympics.
    Toodle pip!

  23. Dear Asta, your family always seems to find the funnest places to chow! The White Dog Army would love to join your adventures! Thank goodness you are an athlete or you might have to worry about that lovely figure you have...I know that I must be careful not to overindulge...especially during opera tailgating season!
