Snickers Lamb 20 July 02- 22 Nov 09

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die. "

I am going to continoo wishing on the dogstaw to bwing peace to hew family and dwy theiw teaws and that all ouw othew fwiends get well
saddest smoochie kisses

  1. Oh Asta...what a lovely tribute to Miss Snickers...we are sad beyond words;life seems too much to bear at times...but bear it we will...one minute at a time.

We love the pic you have of sweet Snickers as an angel at the Bridge...it brings us comfort and hope to know that one day we'll be reunited with our angel friends...

  4. That's a lovely tribute to Ms. Snickers -- and a comforting picture of her at the Bridge.

The poem expresses what it is so hard for us here on earth to accept -- but it is worth reading over and over.

    We love you all,

  7. So sorry to read this, especially when she seemed to be doing so much better. It's the most difficult decision to make, to let a pet go, but the kindest as well. We're off to leave our condolences.

  10. I was visiting with Lacy's and heard that your sweet Snickers has left us. I was so sorry to hear this terrible news. I came right over to let you know how sorry I was to hear of this. The mom is typing through the tears again for me. It is always so sad when one we love leaves us. We cry because we will miss them. Snickers will forever be free of pain and will be waiting one day to be with all of her friends here to join her and her friends over the bridge that were waiting for her. I will pray for all of her friends and family that they will get through the hard times and replace the tears with smiles when then can say her name without the tears.

  16. Miss Asta,
Momma's eyes really leaked when she looked at that photo. She is imagining Miss Snickers playing with Angus, Pi, and Raja. And how happy Miss Snickers must be to be out of pain and all springy again like a proper WFT.

  20. Asta. This was a simply beautiful tribute to Sweet Snickers, and we thank you for writing it. We know it was hard for you. We couldn't bring ourselves to write it quite yet.

You know. We've been thinking. And reading. All over BlogWorld. And now we'll admit that we're reacting. Our hearts are broken. We are sad. We cry. We cuddle together. And we feel. Emotion. Deep deep emotion.

We just read somewhere else that "we were expecting a miracle." And "we lost a miracle." For us, we hoped for a miracle. And, in God's own way, we received it. We hoped and prayed for peace and comfort and a blanket of love to surround Snickers and her family through these last days of her life, when she and they were suffering so badly. Did we hope for her to beat these monsters and survive? You bet. As much if not more than anyone else. But we knew that her time would come when it must. The Miracle that we think we achieved was the Loving Connection that coalesced for her, that gave her the strength to be with her family for the extra days that she did, in a way that we could all feel and appreciate the love she shared with us and the love we shared with her. That is a powerful thing that must, in our opinion, be recognized as Snickers' Gift to the blogging community.

We are sad beyond sad that we've lost this sweet Girl. That Butchy and his family must grieve her passing. But we don't want to think of this as a Miracle Lost. And we don't think Snickers would want that either.

Sorry this has gotten so long. We can't bring ourselves to put it in a post. We hope you don't mind that we've put it here. Bottom line, we know that we are a more loving community because of Snickers. And it will be she that we think of when we recognize the Gift of the Love of Dogs (and Kitties and all other Fuzzies and Furries) that Blog.

    We love you.
    We'll miss Snickers.
    So much.

  32. Oh Kousin Asta,

We are so sad. How awful that our poor little Kousin Snickers was so sick. It makes me angry. No dog deserves to suffer like that. Now she is finally pain-free and at peace. But that doesn't make me feel any better. I just want to cry.
