Helping auntie Juli pack

Satuwday stawted off wif the sad sad news that ouw cofoundew Chawlie the big dog had to leave us.

We cwied and wewe soopew sad but we had pwomised my auntie Juli that we would help hew and figoowed we mught get distwacted at least

She lives all the way inNew Jewsey, so we went

Boy do hoomans have a lot of stuff..I pawsonally could get all my toys and clothes and stuff into one big bag and be weady in a half an houw, but not them

thewe was bubble wap and papew and boxes all ovew the place (Mommi says I was amazing..didn't touch ow chew any of it)

I was dashing awound asking how I could help

no one had anything fow me to do..it was fwustwating and boowing, I'm suwe I could have been a twemendous help if they just let me

I finally gave up and just hung out on vawious sofas and thought about my fwiends and how showt life is and how we have to keep loving each othew the best we can while we have the chance.

then I went out on the deck to see if thewe was anything intewesting to do thewe..NOPE

I looked to one side

I looked to the othew side..no one hewe, and nothing fow a puppy to do.
I had to be tied up cause thew is no fence..so much fow the gweat outdoows.
At least in the city I see othew doggies to say hello to.

Finally the hoomans took a bweak and decided to wefwesh themselves..then back to wowk...
aftew a million houws, they finally got hungwy and fiwed up the gwill fow some buwgews and cown..and not a moment too soon as faw as I'm concewned

of couwse they fowgot to make a placesetting..as if I was going to be satisfied wif the kibble I had had up till then, sheeesh

luckily, my auntie Nancy was thewe too and she taught my Mommi how to give me cown on the cobb (she has a histowy of teaching this method to my sissie Nowa who loved it)

I finally got the hang of it...up till then I always just licked it, didn't know how to bite- can you believe it?

that was lucious!!!! Niammmmmmmmm

now a little buwgew

Phoooey, no mowe???????

Since the yummies wewe all ovew, I made my BFF Lacie's patented smiwkie face and went back to sneep
so much fow my day in the "countwy"

I missed you all and am thankful to Chawlie and his hoomans fow giving me the chance to have so vewy many wondewful fwiends!

I hope youw satuwday was mowe exciting
smoochie kisses

  4. That corn thing - I've never seen one of those before. Looks yummy!
But Asta, you were very calm watching the humans doing all that packing. I always run around in a big noisy panic if anyone brings out a suitcase, as I've learned that it's often a sign of imminent abandonment!
Gail says she wants some of those drinkies!
    Cheers, H.

  8. hi Asta, we have never had corn on the cob. you are such a smart girlie to know how to chew it.

it's too bad you didn't get to help with the packing. you would have been real good at it.

we think humans have way too much stuff too. then they try to make us have too much by buying us toys and collars and stuff. wait! maybe we do want all of those toys and treats and stuff!!!

we hope you are having a more fun day today! we would love to come to your house and entertain you.

    woofs.

  12. Oh boy, Kousin Asta, korn on the kob!! I love it, but my mom doesn't give it to me that often because I eat the kob and everything. I also leave a mess all over the floor for her to clean up. Hehehehe....

Glad you finally learned the proper kanine way to eat korn on the kob. If you have any questions, let me know. I'll try to help.

  14. Oh sweet Asta. Please don't eat corn!! Our Molly nearly died from corn, no good for puppies. We know it's very tasty, but mum says, it's a forbidden fruit...

  15. Wow, wasn't it worth the boring wait to get that yummy corn on the cob. Our Mom has been trying to find some good fresh corn here but for some silly reason, this part of Kansas can't seem to produce some good corn.

We were very saddened by Charlie's very sudden passing - he will be missed.

  17. Did you turn it into a corn shank???

Where is Auntie Juli moving? Did those scary Real Housewives of New Jersey turn a table over on her???

  20. Asta, you are such a sweet niece, girlie, friend and sissie. We know what an important job you had in making the hoomans paws and smile the past couple of days. That's important when a big job needs to be done and it's even more important when hoomans are sad and need a reminder of how special life is. That sweet face of yours has to make everyone smile.

We're glad you got some corn on the cob and a tiny taste of burger. Some is better than nothing!

    We love you, sissie,
    Fergi and Jake

  21. We're sorry to hear about Charlie. It is sad when someone has to leave us.

It's too bad you didn't get to help anymore than you did, but at least you got a good nap out of the deal ... and some lovely corn!

  22. well, at least the food looked pretty good. It was nice you went along to help, even if it was boring.

  23. Awwww Miss Asta,
You are such a good girl! All that bubble wrap and you didn't even pop it! You are right; all we can do is love each other the best we can in the time we have.

Sending love to you and your humans from Italy,
    Miss Olive (and Opus)

  24. We are sorry you got bored! But that food looks good!

I used to had a sister cat that lived here... and she would steal corn cobs from the garbage and run away with them!

  25. We just get the kernels off the cob, Asta - never the whole cob! You're sure lucky and very grown up!

    Love ya lots,
    Maggie and Mitch

Love, love, LOVE your smirky face....and the one where your tongue is just peeking out is trés cute!

  29. We've never had corn on the cob. But when Mom was a little girl, she had a dog named Honey who would pick corn from the garden and eat it raw. If the hooomans wanted corn on the cob they had to beat the dog out there to get it.

SO nice of you to be so patient, however bored, with the hoomans.

  30. Even though Charlie was packing things up and heading out plus you being bored it looks like the food made up for all of that. Looks like a great cookout to me. Corn on the cob. I think you should get a food network job or something!

  31. We too are so thankful for Charlie and all his assistants-without them we wouldn't have met you!

And I can clearly see your role in helping aunti move (besides getting somoe delishuz noms) --
    You provided the cute!!

  32. Good heavens Asta...as your brother, nephew, grandson etc. I coulda taught you to eat corn on da cob years ago...we all learn here as pups...and we wire foxies excel at it...now that you figured out how to nibble the corn off..

it's WAAAAAY more exciting if you grab the cob and run around with it dripping butter all over the carpet and biting a big chunk off and Mumsie screamin' to drop it it's gonna get stuck in ur tummy and I'll have 'spensive vet bills and whew...ya get the pic...

I love a little excitement around here...

Your weekend was WAY to boring...we woulda come up if you'd told us...we coulda played "who can balance the china on our pointy heads????"

    Yeppers...that's me...

    Your brother or whatever...Scruff

  33. Hi, Asta, we are so happy to meet you and we LOVE your blog......our Mom says you are well preserved for having been with Nick and Nora in The Thin Man!! :)

We have enjoyed visiting you and plan to do it on a regular basis. There are no dogs in our family as Mom is limited to two "pets" where she lives. She has a doggy site she maintains also...just cute pictures we find when surfing, but would love to showcase some actual friends there....she would love to add a link to your page there.....let us know.

Purrrrs from us and hugs from our Mom

As always it seems the day turned into lots of fun - we loved the food!!

We loved the porridge bath you so kindly arranged for Hamish - we are so glad you remembered that special bottle to go with it!!!!

  38. We were sorry to hear about your friend Charlie. Send our sympathy to his mommy please.
Now, about this corn eatting. You are SO lucky. Your mommy is the best. She feeds you hooman food and doesn't even get mad at you for eatting from the table. Even though you got bored, looks like the end of your visit was fruitful.
