Chinatown DimSum

My Pawents decided to go to Chinatown today to find Mommi a new pawasol ow a hat against the sun and since it was awound one O clock, why not go fow Dim Sum

I could almost taste it. Then they told me I had to stay home because the westauwant wouldn't let me in and besides it was going to possibly dundew and stowm.
Natoowally, I was devestated, and even mowe so when they showed me these pictoowes

it's a place called Dim Sum GoGo

they had all kinds of steamed buns and baked buns, and fwied buns
wif vegebles and shwimps, and powk and stuff

and cwab in pwetty gween dough all steamed and pinched bootifully, and wondewful dipping sauces and tea

then to make mattews wowse

they had ice cweam wifout me

evewyone in the wowld was having ice cweam except me

you'd think I'd at least get a silly toy...but noooooooo

this Mr. looks the way I felt

have you evew seen so many leechees in youw life?

ow weiwd looking coconuts, shaped like wockets that the man cut wif a machete looking knife and then would stick a stwaw in it and sell it as coconut milk dwink?

these awe dwagon fwuit..I've nevew had any..they awe supposed to be delicious and sweet
they cewtainly awe pwetty

it was a steamy hot day wif the stowm about to come..Daddi saw these chewwies and had to buy some

Mommi and Daddi finally came home, all melted fwom walking and widing on the subway. They made it in the nick of time. Soon aftew, the heavens opened and all the watew in the oonivewse was dumped on New Yowk City..I think they would have dwowned if they stayed out longew
hewe awe the chewwies they bwought home along wif some peaches and tomatoes

I got to have some of all of those...Niammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

hope all of you had a gweat weekend

  2. Asta, I am sorry you didn't get to go. I don't get to go a lot of places either, it stinks sometimes. The foodies looked really good. I hope you got to try those little red balls they brought home.

  4. Asta, you must be posting your bloggies in the middle of the night?!

Sad you didn't get to go to Chinatown sweetie but bestest cos they might have napped you for suppers like they do this side of the pee! Oooh it looked so interesting tho with those the dim sums (are they bad spellers too haaa!!?)and the rocket coconutters. I spied Momi with the Stanley purse, that made us smile and smile. Loving you in the kimono but be careful walking in those shoes cos they must hurt your tootsies.

  7. Hmmm maybe it was a good thing you didn't go to Chinatown hehe.
The dim sum looks very yummy. Naturally we haven't tried it but we think we'd like it.
We thought for sure your pinkies would have brought you back a little bit of ice-cream not that ours would....sigh.

  9. My momma used to go into Boston for Dim Sum when she went to college in the city, but that was like over a hundred years ago.

You were best to stay at home given it was hot and humid. Your furs would have frizzed for sure.

  11. I'm so sorry you didn't get to go Asta, but since it was so hot, maybe it's best you stayed home!

All that delicious food is making me droooool!

  12. It looks soooo good. And makes our Mom crave Asian food, which she rarely gets anymore since we live in the country - she even had to learn to make sushi herself.

  13. What a fun day in Chinatown! Did Mommi find a new parasol? (I saw some in the card shop on 8th Ave near Jane Street, but they were pretty plain.)

Tell Mommi no more tomatoes for you! Mommy was researching an article and found out that tomatoes can cause TREMORS and HEART ARRHTHMIAS in dogs! On no! Don't eat any avocado or onions either. And careful with cherries as the pits contain CYANIDE! Yippers! Safe veggies are carrots, green beans, lettuce, potatoes, yams and red and green bell peppers - but only when they're cut into small bites (for our short digestive tracts.)

Even more bad news...ice cream and other dairy products can cause pancreatitis. Oh well, Mommy's stocking up on some Frosty Paws for me!

    Your pal,

    Petey

  17. Our Mom is drooling all over the computer at the sight of the dim sum and all the other scenes from Chinatown.

We don't mean to be crochety terriers and spoil everyone's fun, but we think Petey is right in what he says about the things we should be careful of ... we didn't know about tomatoes and cherries though.

Anyway -- Asta, you look beautiful in your Chinese-style dress -- but we have to go now or Mom will ruin the computer with her drool.....

    Wirey love!!!

  18. THE NERVE! How dare they leave you at home. By the way, those photos made our human drool! Hehehe!

That is it! We are going to have a gelato party! And the humans are NOT invited!

  19. Yummmy...peaches! We get to eat peaches...and Ms. Doris brought Georgia peaches to us when she returned from her trip. Puffers is on a reducing diet and I have a sensitive stomach...so no other yummies other than carrots for us. The tall one says she doesn't understand how a terrier that can eat roots, sticks, rocks and seashells with no problems gets an upset tummy after a smidgen of people food. And they brought pizza into the house yesterday. Such cruelness...to not be allowed even a dry crust. It's just not to be tolerated.

Anytime your mom posts pictures of NYC is a treat for my mom!

  23. Oh Asta I think that might be stain worthy as an offense against you! Those Dim Sums look amazing, Mom is drooling too. We don't have anything like a China town here but we have a giant Asian supermarket and Mom loves to shop there.

  35. Well I was about to protest to Amnesty International or someone about you being tortured with photos of all that delicious food that you weren't taken along to enjoy, but then I read that you did at least get cherries in the end, which you told me last week that you like, so I guess that's OK, sort of.
    Cheers, H.
Thanks for sending the extra smoochie kisses when I was feeling low on Sunday. It did stop raining in the end and I had a nice walk in the park, and with that and all the kind comments from my pals, I'm feeling a bit better now.

  36. It is such a shame you couldn't go for a Dim Sum too Asta. Thank goodness your pawrents missed the rain, it sounded quite dreadful.

  39. oh to bad asta..no dim sum. the humomm likes to go to chinatown...but not in the summer when it's v e r t HOT... she's a wimp. she said she does like all the activity and the dim sum restaurants are lots of fun expecially when they come through with a new cart mmmmmmmmgood! not that they would take us ...ah well i guess all that terrier energy would just be to much for them.
at least you got some nice fruit out of the deal.
    enjoy!!

  40. We're on your side and think it's not fair you got left all by your lonesome.
They had better make up for that soon.
And what's with no dogs in restaurants? That's got to be the single most stupid rule in teh whole Pinkie universe...same story here...so not fair!!

  41. Oh Asta..I knew you could play chopsticks on the piano, but I had NO IDEA you could eat with 'em!!! How sad with all that dual talent, that they left ya at home...but if it were going to Dunder and Blitzen it's seems in retro that it was a good thing...

We wished we lived near Chinatown...we'd love a break from Mumsie's cooking!!!

Stan's leggie seems ok since I called ya...dumb dog...he shoulda known not to chasie me...

Need to go and finish the housework, while Mumsie lies on the floor and licks her feet. She's so lazy....

    Barks sweet Girl!!!

  42. We were just listening to our people talking about ChinaTown and Dim Sum. How did you know??? All those pictures helped put images to the words we were hearing and now we REALLY understand when they say how colorful and exciting it can all be. We'd sure like to poke around in that part of town. With you. With cherries and ice cream and all the fish that happens to drop to the ground.

(Sorry you didn't get to go, but given the imminent weather and everything else, it was probably for the best.)

    Love,

When Mom was in Hong Kong - all she ate was Dim Sum - and she had photos too!

We got your award - a big thank you - we will post shortly if our typist can get organised!

  54. Oooh, Asta - my humans LOVE dim sum!! They especially love those buns in your first pictrue, which are called "little dragon buns" and are very difficult to make cos they have to be steamed with a bit of broth inside them to spurt out when you bite into it but it's really hard to make buns with broth in that doesn't break and leak everywhere! :-)

I would have been so jealous too if I had been left out of a trip like that!!
