Mikulas Nap (StNicholas Day)

We wite lettews to Santa hewe, but Mommi told me that it was diffewent in Hungawy whewe she gwew up...Mikulas (StNicholas) came on Decembew 6th

"The good bishop comes with a big sack full of presents and a large record book with children's good and bad deeds. Two helpers, a good angel who helps give out presents and a bad Krampus devil who makes mischief. In the morning good children are supposed to find candies, tangerines, walnuts, apples, dates, chocolate Mikuláš figures, and small presents.
Bad children find potatoes, stones, switches, or a wooden spoon. Most children get some of each as no one is all good or all bad."

at Mommi's house, he ackshually knocked on the doow and came and asked hew pawents if she had been good ow bad..and his nasty sidekick was along and was vewy scawy...but since she was a good giwl like me, hehehehehe, she always got the tweats

so I got vewy confoosed...who comes at Chwissmuss?????Is it diffewent depending on whewe you live???
Mommi says angels bwought hew twee and pwesents in Budapest...and they came on decembew 24th (thewe was no twee till that day)
I just saw on Gussie's blog that Muzzer aways celebwates St Nicholas day too...and they wote the most bootiful song about it..you just have to go wead it

while thinking about all this and twying to figoowe it out, I felled asneep and had a dweam....

Mikulas was holding me while I whispewed in his eaw and a bunch of Hungawian hooman pups wewe dancing awound us

I just hope some countwies' Santa , ow Mikulas, ow Angels listen to ouw wequests ...Gussie put it so well..
Pleez take cawe of all, and bwing peace, and comfowt and no illness...and maybe a ball

HAPPY " MIKULAS NAP"  EVEWYONE  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

love and smoochie kisses

Bisous, Faya

  9. Hey Asta, In mommy's home town, they have a St. Nicolas Day parade. I wonder if St. Nicolas will come here today and give me some treats. I'd take the sticks and stuff too. I don't get why those aren't good.

  11. Oh my, Asta...Mumsie said when bruvver and sissy were little they put their shoes out on St. Nicholas Eve and in the morning they had a little bag of usually very frozen chocalate coins...

She also said that she was teaching CCD at our church on St. Nicholas...the children in all the different classrooms took one shoe off and put it out in the hall...it was freezing outside and the fire alarm went off...they wouldn't let the teachers back in for the shoes and when the parents came to pick up the kids they were all hoppin' on one foot...she said it was hilarious!

I ADORED your picture of the Hungarian children and you with um Mickus?? can't 'member how to spell it....

Isn't it fun to learn bout customs from all over the world??

    Love you the mostest!

In Italy we have a Christmas witch, called the Befana, who comes to our house and puts goodies in our socks. So if Santa doesn't bring me anything, there is always hope that the Befana will! 30. Gee Asta...

    Love those red jammies....

ya look like yer all ready ta settle down fer a long Winter nap.....
because we're all really tired of this extended cold snap......
while what to my extra sensory eyes do appear.....
but a shiny red sleigh pulled by huskies drinkin' nothin' but beer. Is Scruffy havin' another poker party with Lacie's Paw-tini drinks ?...
He needs professional help and right quickly me thinks.....
And if ya can help 'em and Lacie fer real....
we could all settle down fer a Holiday meal....
Set out cookies 'n milk with yer stockin' nearby......
cause it's not many days until Santa stops by.....
why we're hopin' fer somethin' ta play with and eat.....
and if we see the Real Santa, it will be quite a treat....
so snuggle and cuddle in yer little bed....
while visions of beefsteaks swim 'round in yer head....
and for all those poor doggies in shelters do pray....
so they'll wake up in homes before this Christams Day...
    Amen.....

    Dewey Dewster here....
